The Amphiareion of Oropos, one of the most beautiful archaeological sites in Greece, is located within easy reach of Athens and in a lush, enchanting landscape that is worth visiting.

It was founded in the 5th century BC, when the wider area of ​​Oropos belonged to the Athenians. The area hosted the great Amphiaraea, an important festival held every five years in honor of Amphiaraus and which also included athletic competitions.

It is a sacred place with a long history, dedicated to the seer and healer Amphiaraos. It was created in the 5th century BC, an oracle and a healing center operated in the area. The ancient theater is also preserved. Also near the temple is a marble hydraulic hourglass, which is a rare archaeological example of a hydraulic clock.
